FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
What’s new at WOLOHO?
This is a huge leap for us. The frontend, the system, and even our mail infrastructure are completely new. Much of it came straight from your feedback, and much of it we simply wanted to do better ourselves. Here are the most important changes at a glance:
Faster, clearer, more beautiful. Shorter paths, fresh design, fewer clicks, fewer bugs. From posting a listing to browsing, everything now runs smoothly.
Finally, fully bilingual. From now on, the website and emails come to you in both German and English throughout. Listings themselves stay in their original language, that’s part of their charm.
More packed into the Letters. Every listing now shows the first 200 characters of its description right away, so you get a taste of more. In the web versions, new filters and search options help you find what you’re looking for much faster. And anyone who just subscribed gets the most recent Letter right away, to dive straight in.
Finally: photos! In the Homeletter, you can now show your home with up to three photos. In the Workletter, it works the same way for offices, studios, event spaces, and practice rooms. Headlines alone just don’t sell a space.
Everything in one place: your WOLOHO account. If you post listings regularly, you can now set up your own account and keep your listings, recurring default details plus logo, invoices, and orders all in one place. With an account, you can also pay for Workletter listings by invoice. If you just want to subscribe to our Letters, you still don’t need an account, we promise, no more online accounts than necessary. (More under Your WOLOHO Account.)
You decide how long your listing runs. By default, every listing appears in one issue, so for one week. In the Workletter, you can now also book two or four weeks, in the Loveletter two weeks, and the longer you book, the more you save per week. On top of that, we’ve lowered the weekly prices themselves. (More under Posting Listings.)
Credit packages: top up once, post with ease. Top up an amount once and use it for your next listings, no more paying each time. The bigger the package, the higher the bonus on your credit. Everything runs directly through your account, and your current balance is visible at any time. Usable across all Letters, with no expiry date. (More under Credit Packages.)
Tidier categories, with a few genuine new additions. In the Workletter, Business Development is brand new, for anyone looking for business partners, investors, or a successor for their company. In the Loveletter, we gave Volunteers Wanted and Friends & Groups their own categories, because they simply earned it, and we split Services into single-session and multi-day offers, so coaching, wellness, workshops, and retreats reach the right people more easily. (More under Posting Listings.)
Data protection remains close to our hearts. We self-host our website statistics through Matomo, cookie-free and with anonymized IP addresses. We send our Letters through Mailjet, a GDPR-compliant European provider, and we’ve deliberately disabled open and click tracking there. (More in our Privacy Policy.)
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The new WOLOHO holds dozens of smaller improvements you might only notice once you start clicking around. Have fun exploring, and above all, helping each other. From the bottom of our hearts: thank you for being part of our community.
General
WOLOHO stands for WORK, LOVE & HOME, a weekly newsletter that brings people together around work, community, and a place to call home. Our three Letters come out every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, free and personally curated: the Workletter for jobs and professional spaces, the Loveletter for mutual support, connection, and offers for body, mind, and soul, the Homeletter for housing. They reach our subscribers exclusively by email, because a protected space matters to us. Whether you’re looking for something, offering something, or want to swap, you’re in the right place.
WOLOHO has grown organically since 2013, without investors and without a corporation behind it, purely through recommendations from our community. We’re proudly lo-fi and handmade. We read, sort, and place every single listing into the Letter with care. No AI, no algorithms, no bots. That makes us slower than the big platforms, but closer to what people actually need. Our Community Agreements capture how we treat each other and what we stand for.
We’re a small, independent company without investors or a corporation behind us. We fund ourselves through paid listings, mainly in the Workletter, and through credit packages. Many listings stay deliberately free though, like mutual support, housing, or volunteer work, because that matters more to us than any extra euro. We don’t sell your data, that was never an option for us and still isn’t.
WOLOHO is and remains a community newsletter, not an open platform. Our Letters come out weekly by email and are only accessible to our subscribers, because a protected space is simply part of who we are. If you’d rather browse in your browser, every Letter includes a link to the web version. There, filters and search make it much easier to find specific listings, often the more pleasant experience for particular wishes or searches.
Subscribing to Our Letters
Our Letters come out weekly. The Workletter arrives every Monday, the Loveletter every Tuesday, and the Homeletter every Wednesday, each from 5 pm. On public holidays or during our winter and year-end break, sending shifts to the next business day. You can subscribe to one, two, or all three, whatever suits you.
Yes, the Letters are completely free, and subscribing takes nothing more than your email address, no account and no password. Just enter your address here, choose your Letters, confirm your subscription, and you’re in. You can unsubscribe just as easily anytime through the link at the bottom of every Letter.
When subscribing, you choose whether you’d like the Letters in German or English. Listings themselves stay in the original language they were written in, mostly German or English. You can adjust your language choice anytime through the link at the bottom of every Letter.
Which Letters you receive and whether you’d like our occasional discounts and special offers, you can set anytime through the Letter settings at the bottom of every Letter. Your registered email address itself can’t be changed there directly. The easiest way is to unsubscribe with the old address and subscribe again right away with the new one, so everything stays cleanly confirmed.
First, check your spam folder, our emails end up there now and then. To make sure our Letters reliably reach your inbox, it’s best to add our sender address to your contacts. If that doesn’t help, write to us, and we’ll figure out together what’s going wrong.
This is an optional extra for people who post listings. From time to time, we send out discounts and special offers, for example on credit packages or certain listing types. No need to worry, we don’t spam: in practice, that’s only about six to seven emails a year, and only when there’s a genuinely relevant offer or bigger news. If that interests you, you can turn it on when subscribing or later in your newsletter settings.
Posting Listings
You choose the right Letter and are guided through a short form. Before anything goes out, you see a preview of how your listing will look in the Letter, and you can check everything at your own pace. Two things make this easy: we read every listing personally before it’s published, and for paid listings, you only pay once we’ve accepted your listing.
The submission deadline is always 2 pm on the respective Letter’s publication day, after that, we begin preparing for sending from 5 pm. It’s best not to submit your listing at the very last minute, but rather a day or two earlier. That leaves time in case anything still needs clarifying. Anything submitted after 2 pm moves to the following week’s issue.
All prices are per week and include 19% VAT.
In the Workletter, job listings cost €79 for permanent, fixed-term, and freelance positions, and €69 for working student, internship, and mini-job positions. Business Development costs €59, Workspace €39.
In the Loveletter, all listings under With Each Other & For Each Other are free, meaning mutual support, love, friendships, cultural events, and volunteering. Single-session services cost €9, multi-day offers €19.
In the Homeletter, all listings are free, whether you’re offering, looking for, or swapping housing.
On top of that, you can optionally book a Top placement or a Color boost, which makes even a free listing paid accordingly. In the Workletter, Top placement costs €59 and Color boost €29, in the Love- and Homeletter €19 and €9 respectively. If you’d like us to enter your Workletter listing for you, the listing entry service adds €29.
By default, every listing appears in one issue, so for one week. In the Workletter, you can also choose two or four weeks, in the Loveletter two weeks. And yes, a longer runtime is worth it: with two weeks you save 20%, with four weeks 35% compared to the single-week prices, your listing reaches more people, and the price per week drops noticeably.
Our Letters have a remarkably engaged readership. The Workletter reaches around 30,000 people every Monday, the Loveletter about 18,000 on Tuesdays, and the Homeletter about 32,000 on Wednesdays. Open rates stay consistently between 30% and 50% across all three Letters, sometimes well above that, far beyond the industry average. That’s because our community has grown organically and through recommendations. Anyone reading our Letters made a conscious choice to do so, and you can feel that in the response to every listing.
Yes. In the Homeletter, you can show your home with up to three photos, and in the Workletter, it works the same way for Workspace listings, meaning offices, studios, event spaces, and practice rooms. You can reorder the photos by drag and drop. You can upload a company or organizer logo for commercial listings and events, generally anywhere in the Workletter, and in the Loveletter wherever it makes sense content-wise, for example for events, workshops, courses, coaching, and wellness offers.
Right after you submit, you’ll get a confirmation email with all the key details of your listing. We review your listing as quickly as possible and prepare it for publication. Once it’s in the Letter, you’ll get a short message from us again. If you have an account, you can also check the current status anytime under Listings & Orders.
Sure. Maybe you’ve filled the open position by now and want to post a new one, or you’ve found someone to take over your lease and now need help finding someone for a different room. With an account, you’ll find your old listing under Listings & Orders and can resubmit it with one click, all the content is already filled in and you can still adjust it before submitting. Without an account, you simply fill out the form again.
Your WOLOHO Account
You don’t need an account either to subscribe or to post listings, even paid listings work fine without one. It only pays off once you’re posting regularly: then you keep track of your active and past listings, buy and use credit packages, save recurring default details plus your logo, and manage your billing details. You can also change your password, email address, and Letter selection there. Everything in one place, nothing to search for.
Click Login at the top of the navigation, and you’ll land on the sign-in and registration page. Enter your email address, set a password, done. You can also register directly during the listing process while you’re posting a listing, either way is just as easy.
Default details are your recurring listing info: company name, contact person, logo, website, and contact. Once saved in your account, they’re automatically carried over into every new listing, which saves you typing and keeps your presence consistent. Under billing details, you save your billing address, your VAT ID, your preferred invoice language, and optionally a separate email address that should also receive your invoices, such as your accounting team. That way, the right paperwork lands exactly where it belongs.
If several people at your company post listings on WOLOHO, we recommend one shared account instead of several individual ones. That way, all listings, default details, invoices, and above all your credit stay in one central place, instead of being spread across different accounts. It makes managing everything simpler, accounting more pleasant, and everyone on the team knows what’s currently going on.
Yes, under Account Details you’ll find the Delete Account link right at the bottom. Important: your order account and your newsletter subscription are two separate things, you can end them independently, but in the deletion form we also offer you the option to handle both at once. When you delete your account, your personal data and the contact details in your listings are irreversibly anonymized, active listings remain in place for now and are anonymized after three months. Any existing credit expires without replacement, and invoices already issued are deleted from your account but remain stored in our accounting records for legal reasons. Restoring your data afterward is not possible. If you’d really just like to stop receiving Letters, adjusting your Letter settings is the better route.
- Your personal data (name, email, address) is irreversibly anonymized.
- Contact details in your listings are anonymized. Active listings remain in place at first and are anonymized after a retention period of 3 months.
- Any existing account credit expires without replacement.
- Invoices already issued are deleted from your account but remain stored in our accounting records due to legal retention requirements.
- If you activated the newsletter unsubscribe option in the deletion form, we also end your Letter subscription under this email address at the same time. If you leave the option off, the subscription remains active, and you can end it separately anytime via the unsubscribe link in the Letters.
- You won’t be able to log in with this email address again until you create a new account with the same address.
Please note: restoring your data afterward is not possible. If you’d really just like to stop receiving Letters, adjusting your newsletter settings is the better route.
Credit Packages
Credit packages are a more relaxed way to post listings with us. Instead of paying for each listing separately, you top up an amount to your account once and use that credit for your next listings. That saves you money on every listing, because your credit comes with a bonus, and simplifies your accounting, since you get one invoice for the package instead of many separate ones. You can buy and use credit packages with a WOLOHO account, directly under Credit or during checkout.
We offer three packages: €230 in credit for €200, €600 in credit for €500, and €1,300 in credit for €1,000. The bigger the package, the higher your bonus on the credit.
Your credit works across all Letters, for Workletter listings just as much as for the few paid Loveletter categories or for add-ons like Top placement and Color boost. There’s no expiry date, your credit stays as long as your account exists. It can’t be paid out or transferred.
Under Credit in your account, you can see at any time how much you still have available. We also show your current balance during checkout whenever you choose credit as your payment method.
Payment & Invoicing
You can pay with credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. For Workletter listings, we additionally offer payment by bank transfer, with a payment term of 14 days. And of course, in all Letters you can use credit from a credit package, as soon as you have some available.
You only ever pay once we’ve accepted your listing, nothing is due before that. For card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay payments, the amount is charged only upon our acceptance, and credit is deducted only at that point too. As soon as we’ve accepted your listing, we automatically send you an invoice by email to the address you used to submit it. If you’ve saved a separate address for invoice copies in your account, it receives its copy automatically at the same time. Questions about an invoice? Write to us.
For orders from other EU countries, we can issue the invoice under the reverse charge mechanism without German VAT, on request, provided you give us a valid VAT ID, which we check automatically against the EU’s official VIES register. Without a valid VAT ID, we charge the standard German VAT. For orders from countries outside the EU, German VAT generally doesn’t apply. The billing address you provide is what determines this. Questions about this? Write to us.
Values, Trust & Data Protection
Our Community Agreements are the foundation WOLOHO stands on. They describe how we treat each other, how we communicate, and what we stand for together. Values like diversity, fairness, mindfulness, sustainability, and humanity aren’t empty phrases here, they concretely guide us when curating the Letters, shaping our listings, and interacting with one another. Anyone who posts listings on WOLOHO, subscribes to our Letters, or recommends us is part of this community and helps shape it. You’ll find the full agreements on our Community Agreements page.
We handle your data the way we’d want a service provider to handle ours: sparingly, securely, and only for the purposes you gave it to us for. We don’t sell data, we don’t pass your contact details on to third parties, and we don’t track you beyond our website. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no ad networks, for our statistics we use a self-hosted Matomo, cookie-free and with anonymized IP addresses. We send our Letters through Mailjet, with servers in the EU. We use the contact details from your listings solely for publication, so interested people can reach you, for nothing else. You’ll find all the details in our Privacy Policy.
